What is the difference between Tibetan lamb fur and Mongolian lamb fur?

The both are same kind of lamb fur, just two different names for this long curly soft fur. This fur only originates from northwest China, where sheeps of special gene are breeded with mineral rivers, rich grassland and dry climates at local area. The mutton are main meet source for native living, but the fur on lambskins are famous for super long soft curls with sophisticated silky and luxurious looking, it’s just super perfect to make pillows, rugs, throws, and any other covers to upholster furniture and home interiors with fashion trend. So merchant, furriers and traders have worked together to develope this fur material to be a big business over hundrends of years. Usually, more European buyers like to call it Tibetan lamb fur, more North American buyers like to call Mongolian lamb fur.

Will my Mongolian Tibetan lamb fur products shed?

When the skins are cut for sewing various products, some hairs are unavoidably snipped and this creates some loose hairs. These hairs actually are not shedding, but simply Mongolian wool that get loose when the skins were cut. There will be NO “shedding” of any kind, as long as the loose wool fibers get gone. So, it always takes some time for the loose wool in a new product to work it’s way out. Keep a lint brush handy only for the first few uses.
If possible, pls hang the Mongolian fur pieces, shake it or flap it to get loose wool “go away” faster.

Do I need to pay any special attention on my Mongolian lamb fur rugs when I receive it firstly?

Yes! you can shake out your fur when you receive it and I recommend to do this on a regular basis. Simply take hold of one end and shake in one direction then flip and take hold of the other end to shake in the other direction then pop it on! This will shake out some loose hairs and restore the full luxe volume of your fur.

How do I handle with sheep odor?

If you notice any smell from the compact packaging of the fur, acturally the smell is natural from sheep skins, pls open the package, put fur in a ventilated room and let it air out. Another way to neutralize any odor that is the most effective is to thoroughly spray and dampen the fur with a mix of 2/3 water with 1/3 shampoo, then allow the fur to air dry. The smell will get down to very little after using for a few month.

How do I care Mongolian Tibetan lamb fur?

We always suggest spot clean, and keep the fur avoid direct exposure to sun light. Please keep it in mind: do not moisten the leather backing, and do not get the skin leather in wet water or rain. Every few month you should shake out the blanket/rug but not too hard. In case you have a stain on your blanket/rug – wipe it out carefully with a sponge and a little bit of soap if needed. Comb the wool hairs after shaking to keep the wool curly and beautiful as original.
